- Pack light: It’s okay to repeat outfits when you’re travelling! So do yourself a huge favour and pack light. Make a note of all the essential clothing you will need during your stay and pack only those items. Avoid carrying extra stuff, especially if you intend to visit a few different places.
- Take an extra credit card with you: Mishaps can happen when you’re travelling. In case you are robbed or lose your credit card, it’s always good to have a backup option. So, carry an extra debit or credit card with you but leave it at the hotel!
- Use no-fee bank cards: If you’re travelling abroad, make sure to use a credit or debit card that does not charge foreign transaction fees. It may not seem like much, but the charges can add up and increase the cost of your trip.
- Don’t carry a lot of cash: Limit the amount of cash you carry while travelling. It’s best to only carry your credit card or debit card when you are out so you can contact your card provider and have them block your card in case something goes wrong.
- Make extra copies of important documents: If your passport ever gets stolen or lost, having an extra copy will come handy. Make sure to also email yourself a copy of all the documents you will be carrying.
- Don’t fly direct: If you’re looking to save money, it may be best to fly to airports that are close to your final destination and then take another flight, train, or bus to where you need to go. Of course, you need to compare air ticket prices before you book your ticket to get the best deal.
- Ask for an upgrade at the hotel: It does not hurt to ask. Hotel staff have a lot of flexibility when it comes to providing free upgrades to customers. And if the hotel isn’t full, the staff may accommodate your request. Just make sure you’re extremely nice when asking.
