Choosing Between SUVs And Sedans

by pps-DUEditor

Drivers today want cars that can do everything. They want comfort and versatility, style and practicality, power, and efficiency. And SUVs and sedans offer the right mix of all the above points. Even though you may want one of each, you probably just need one of either. We’ll help you choose.

SUVs

Space And Comfort: SUVs have space for your entire family. You can all head out on the road together in comfort. SUVs with three rows can seat up to eight people while still having a lot of cargo space. Their design also means there’s plenty of head, leg, and elbow room for everyone.

Capability: SUVs are versatile and capable vehicles. They have amazing towing capabilities, and they are powered by big, powerful engines that are often turbocharged for added power and efficiency. They also have four- or all-wheel drive with low range gearing that makes them excellent for off-road adventures. SUVs are built on a ladder-frame chassis that makes them extremely strong and durable in harsh conditions.

Safety: Because SUVs are often used as family vehicles, a lot of them come with enhanced safety features. As they are taller than sedans, they tend to be safer in head-on collisions too.

Sedans

Affordable: Sedans usually cost a lot less than equivalent SUVs as they also cost far less to build. They’re also cheaper to insure. On average, people tend to save about ten thousand dollars on a sedan as compared to an SUV.

Efficiency: SUVs are notorious gas guzzlers. Even the more efficient ones cannot hope to match the efficiency offered by sedans. They are smaller, lighter, and their engines are designed to balance power output with efficiency making them excellent for those who like saving money. Several sedans are also available with electric powertrains and as hybrids that can get as much as 50 miles to the gallon.

Practical: Sedans because of their size, weight, power, and suspension are far easier to handle and drive every day than SUVs. They are excellent for use in cities, easily fit into most parking spots, and navigating narrow streets is easier in sedans than in SUVs. Sedans also come with a host of safety features, including airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, autonomous braking, just like SUVs.
